In 2010, Homme released a deluxe version of Rated R for the tenth anniversary of the album’s release. Everyone needs a mantra. For Josh Homme, Nick Oliveri, and the rotating cast of Queens of the Stone Age, it was short, catchy, debauched: "Nicotine, Valium, Vicodin, marijuana, ecstasy, and alcohol. And for good measure: "C-c-c-c-c-cocaine. For the first song on their second album it was a rallying cry, the perfect chorus, a clever verse, and a sort of philosophical exposition. But it was also a misnomer.

Fenrinos
While unable to compare it to other pressings, this sounds pretty darn good coming out of my moderately priced system (Ortofon 2M Blue, Pro Ject Debut III, Onkyo system and Audioengine P4 speakers with Blue Jeans cables). Punchy in all the right spots and the vinyl was clean and quiet (before and after a trip through an enzyme bath with a vacuum system). Would recommend if you can get this version and don't want to dole out the cash for an original pressing.
Xar
I have this and the Re-issue 000 000-0 and they both sound great. not sure why this release has so much hate. The only thing i notice is some noise between songs, but once the track kicks in its crystal clear

I just bought this version from Amazon.de (shipped from Italy). Overall sound quality is good, although a bit flat at times and very similar to the cd.
Efmprof
This is the pressing without the hype sticker printed to the sleeve. Gatefold is kind of flimsy, but it sounds way better than that reissue from a few years prior to this. For one, you don't have to crank stereo way up to even hear the damn thing.
Zyniam
The sound quality (on variant 1 at least) is very good, don't be afraid to buy it.
Thozius
I listened to a reissue for years, and thought it was ok. Not great, but good enough. The low volume didn’t bug me too much, I just turned it up. But finally, after reading the comments on here I bought this original UK/Europe pressing. And there is indeed a very big difference in quality. Definitely worth the extra money.

This UK 1st press cut by Ray Staff sounds incredible. The fidelity is superb and the mastering is excellent, really bringing out a lot of detail in the sound and clarity in the instrumentation. There's a lot of nuances to this album and this cut really does that justice. The pressing is also excellent - if you want the best version of Rated R, grab this one.
Bolanim
How the hell do you tell this one & the 2005 reissue apart? Whats the easteregg?
godlike
I’m fairly certain that the 2005 version does not have an insert. Also it has the labels on the opposite sides compared to this. I also believe that it does not have the ”Don’t make me beg” easter egg on the back of the cover.
unmasked
My version has the sticker on the right corner. What does that mean? Everything else looks like this original version.
Use_Death
Doesn't sound that different to the CD. However, the sound is clear, balanced and punchy. Everything sounds hi-res and there is good instrument separation. Sounds teriffic on my Rega RP3 turntable. I recommend.

I took a shot in the dark and bought this album online without knowing which pressing I was getting-- turned out to be this one. Figured I'd give my impressions since this pressing has practically no reviews compared to the other ones. Verdict: it sounds good, plain and simple. Not outstanding, but far from bad. No particular instrument or frequency range stands out as being noteworthy in either a good or bad way. Basically exactly what I would consider par for vinyl mastering: it's punchy and doesn't sound compressed, but it isn't so clear/spacious/refined/etc. that I'm hearing the album differently or anything, like a truly superb pressing of an album can cause. Additionally, it's dead silent-- no surface noise whatsoever.Overall, it sounds much better than how people describe the bad reissues, but seemingly not as amazing as people describe the original pressing and the 2014 reissue. Unfortunately, I own no other pressings to compare it to directly, but that's what I can gather from reading the reviews on here. Given that this and the 2014 reissue are going for the exact same prices (at least at the time of writing this review), I'd say go for the 2014 one, but if you find a killer deal on this one, don't shy away from it.

Randomly bought this off Ebay and was pleased to figure it's this release (it's exhaustive trying to figure out what version you have.) The sound is great. Better than CD and worth seeking out.
Voodoozragore
Have you got the eBay seller’s name? I really want a copy of this.
Araath
Like everyone else has said, this version is legit and sounds excellent.
Ndav
Why does it have Ode to Clarissa? I thought that was just a bonus track? (Great song though)
Goll
I bought a copy off of Amazon that says Feel Good Hit of the Summer on the spine. Its def Rated R. Does that sound right to anybody else?
Thetalas
Yup, all copies of this pressing have "feel good hit of the summer" on the spine.
Enalonasa
I just picked this up from Waterloo records in Austin, TX and the sound is legit. This is definitely the copy to own.
Flathan
It seems like some of the tracks have different mastering. Few tracks are a bit louder, than the others. Overall sounds really good and "dirty in queens way"
Grarana
Be careful when buying this! Ask the seller if it's an original, I was sent a reissue by mistake. Then tried to buy another copy, and that seller had accidently listed a reissue as well. Check before buying!
JoldGold
Owners, how does it sound? Any reference? Thanks in advance
Kulalbine
I bought one last year (2016) and it sound pretty good
Fast Lovebird
I got the ''sharp corner sticker/dont make me beg'' version. I agree with what everyone else says about the sound. It's a huge improvement over this version (https://www.discogs.com/Queens-Of-The-Stone-Age-X/release/2984283). However, I have to say this is one of the dirtiest new LPs I've ever bought. LP is covered in dust, almost impossible to remove LP from inner because too much static, scuffs and tiny hairlines all over. Even after cleaning on my RCM there is still noticeable surface noise throughout. Still, sonically its such a big improvement that I will learn to live with these imperfections until hopefully someday all the QOTSA albums will get the audiophile treatment.
ME
I'm for 100% sure that I got the legit version. I can't image the Plato record stores in the Netherlands would sell a bootleg version. anyhow the vinyl version sounds great. Happy that I bought it.
Kann
I can confirm Plato & Concerto sell bootlegs. They also sell Songs for the deaf wich has never been officially reissued.
Mr_KiLLaURa
This is the definitive medium for this album. Sound is wonderfully balanced and clear. Vocals sound incredibly organic and I've found that there's a little less sound "lost in the mix" when compared to my CD and FLAC files. Nice heavy vinyl with no surface noise and love the "Don't make me beg..." easter egg. Must own for QOTSA fans that have turntables. Play it LOUD.
Moswyn
Received this version last week. Dynamic range is very narrow and the overall sound quality is flat and quiet. Much like the comments I've been reading on here for other releases. Won't be playing this record again. I'd advise against buying this release. Hold out for an original.
Funny duck
This pressing IS the original release... Looks like you intended to add your comment to one of the reissues that sounds terrible.
Kanrad
This pressing sounds fantastic, and relative to the cost of other QotSA albums it's a must own. Bought it on discogs and got exactly what I expected. Sweet.
