Redirected from The Ramones (album)). Ramones is the debut studio album by American punk rock band Ramones, released on April 23, 1976 by Sire Records. Fields agreed and convinced Craig Leon to produce Ramones, and the band recorded a demo for prospective record labels.

The Ramones were an American punk rock band from New York City. Their discography consists of fourteen studio albums, seven live albums, sixteen compilation albums, seventy-one singles, thirty-two music videos and ten films. The band formed in early 1974, and upon signing with Seymour Stein of Sire Records, the Ramones released their self-titled debut album on April 23, 1976.

Between 1993 and 2000, a series of Ramones covers albums were released by Selfless Records (later Clearview Records), an independent record label based in Garland, Texas specializing in punk rock, on which bands influenced by seminal punk group the Ramones performed cover versions of entire Ramones albums.

Ramones is the debut studio album by American punk rock band the Ramones, released on April 23, 1976 by Sire Records. They used similar sound-output techniques to those of the Beatles and used advanced production methods by Leon.

It altered the course of music history by being arguably the first punk rock album. Its gritty, fast guitar sound, simple lyrics, and stripped down . aesthetic inspired countless bands on both sides of the Atlantic to start their own bands. Songs like Blitzkrieg Bop, Beat on the Brat, Judy is a Punk, and 53rd and 3rd became anthems of the movement and acted as an antidote to the bloated guitar rock of the late 1970s

With the three-chord assault of "Blitzkrieg Bop," The Ramones begins at a blinding speed and never once over the course of its 14 songs does it let up. The Ramones is all about speed, hooks, stupidity, and simplicity. The songs are imaginative reductions of early rock & roll, girl group pop, and surf rock.
